What happens when thousands of people gather to watch the story of Jesus unfold on a screen?

For many across Burundi, it became more than a film screening. It was an opportunity to encounter the Gospel, reflect on their relationship with God, and, for some, begin a new life in Christ.

Scripture Union Burundi conducted a large-scale film evangelism campaign across its Centre-East, West, and North branches, bringing the message of the Gospel to schools, churches, and local communities. Through screenings of Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ, and Overcomer, a total of 10,209 people had the opportunity to engage with messages of faith, hope, and salvation.

The Gospel reaching hearts and transforming lives

The response to the campaign was significant. Among those who attended, 2,996 participants responded to the Gospel invitation, while 115 made first-time commitments to follow Jesus Christ.

Behind these numbers are individuals who took a step towards faith and expressed a desire to begin or deepen their relationship with God.

As audiences watched the life, sacrifice, and resurrection of Jesus portrayed on screen, the films provided opportunities to reflect on personal choices, faith, forgiveness, and the hope found in Christ. For some, the experience renewed their commitment to living according to biblical values; for others, it marked the beginning of a new journey of faith.

Beyond the screenings: Building connections and encouraging discipleship

The campaign reached beyond the screening venues, opening doors for meaningful engagement with schools, churches, and local communities. Young people and adults alike were given opportunities to reflect on their lives, consider the message of Christ, and engage in conversations about faith and personal transformation.

These encounters also strengthened connections with local churches and communities, creating opportunities for continued spiritual support.

Recognizing that a response to the Gospel is only the beginning of a journey of faith, Scripture Union Burundi remains committed to encouraging follow-up, discipleship, and connections with local churches and Bible Groups. Through these relationships, new believers can receive guidance and support as they grow in their relationship with Christ.
